The demand by a section of the Muslim Community Organizations to lower the minimum legal marriageable age for girls to below 18 has been rejected by an overwhelming majority of girls and women from the community.

After 16 months in judicial custody, YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy walked out of Chanchalguda Central Prison on Tuesday at 4 pm after getting bail.

Cop, 2 Others Rape Woman at Bus Stop


A police constable and two other men allegedly gangraped a 40-year-old woman from Hyderabad, at the Kothakota bus stand in Mahbubnagar. A fourth man, a home guard, was a spectator.

The woman, a resident of Almasguda, was waiting at the RTC bus stand to return to Hyderabad at around 1 am when the men dragged her to the back of the washroom near the bus stand and raped her. Mahbubnagar police arrested the four men in a few hours after the woman lodged a complaint.
